TE LAB-PERFORMANCE TEST ON 2-STROKE SINGLE CYLINDER PETROL ENGINE WITH ROPE BRAKE LOADING

Ex.No:                                                                                                                         Date:

PERFORMANCE TEST ON 2-STROKE SINGLE CYLINDER PETROL ENGINE WITH ROPE BRAKE LOADING

Aim

To conduct performance test on 2-stroke single cylinder petrol engine and to measure the BHP at constant speed keeping different load, air consumption at variable speed and air consumption.

Specifications of Engine:

Two stroke single – cylinder petrol engine, air cooled engine (Bajaj Scooter Engine).

Rated Speed                 : 1000 rpm.

Starting by        : Kick Starting.

Loading            : Rope break load drum dia.200mm.

Procedure:

·                   Fill the fuel tank with clean fuel.
·                   Check the sufficient lubrication oil in the oil sump (crank case).
·                   Connect the control panel to electrical mains 230V.
·                   Start the engine by cranking the crankshaft manually.
·                   Load the engine by rotating the wheel so that the in steps of 2,3,6,8 kgs to                              get load up to 75% of maximum load capacity.
·                   Repeat the procedure for different loads to conduct the load test.
·              Each time note down the manometer reading fuel consumption reading and rpm.
·                   Note down the temperature readings for final reading to calculate heat balance                   sheet at full load.

Observations:

Specific gravity of petrol = 0.65 grms/cc

 Diameter of orifice = 10mm &12.5mm

Calorific value of petrol fuel = 44,500 kJ/kg

Room temperature = T10C
